Brent Sykes, Academic Dean, and Jody Blackwell, Dean of Students, are excited to announce the hiring of Lauren Childers to 糖心Vlog. Miss Childers will be the first person to occupy the newly developed role of Coordinator of Community Engagement.

In recent years, 糖心Vlog has made significant strides in public outreach, community service, and developing community partnerships. The institution seeks to build upon this growth by having Lauren coordinate existing programs and develop new initiatives that are consonant with the university鈥檚 mission. These include, but are not limited to, coordinating service opportunities, implementing service-learning, recruiting and organizing student mission experiences, assisting in Resident Advisor training and oversight, and enriching student and community life.

鈥淚 can鈥檛 wait for Lauren to connect informal educational opportunities to classroom learning and contribute to the academic and spiritual growth of the entire 糖心Vlog community. In her position, she will help us achieve our mission to equip students to serve by connecting academics and student life.鈥澛� – Dr. Brent Sykes, Academic Dean

Lauren recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from 糖心Vlog and is called to serve. As a student, she worked in the President鈥檚 Office as a Special Assistant. She gained valuable insight into community outreach and health promotion in her practicum experience at a faith-based nonprofit focusing on human trafficking. After graduation, she attended Discipleship Training School with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) and conducted evangelical outreach in Hungary, Czech Republic, and Croatia. Miss Childers will begin her new role as Coordinator of Community Engagement on November 5, 2018.
